Prout played a season-high 18:56 in Saturday's game against the Capitals, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
After falling out of favor with head coach John Tortorella in Columbus, it appears Prout has found a home in Newark. While the extra usage might not necessarily translate into offense, he has logged plenty of hits and blocked shots over the years. Prout might be a player to watch down the stretch in deeper pools if his ice time continues to stay in the 18-20 minute range.
