Merrill appears to be the extra defenseman for Thursday night's road game in Ottawa, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Merrill has made his way into four of six games for the Devils, but those all resulted in team losses, while the Devils have come up victorious in the past two games when he wasn't in the lineup. On a positive note, he's evidently over an illness that started earlier in the week.
