The Devils assigned Lappin to AHL Albany on Friday.
Lappin has only managed to tally seven points in 43 games with the big club this season, so the Devils may opt to fill the spot he's had on their roster with another young -- and perrhaps more promising -- prospect down the stretch. Lappin will likely finish the 2016-17 campaign in the minors.
