Illness to keep him out Wednesday

Kindl is dealing with an illness that will keep him out of Wednesday night's contest against the Penguins, per Wings head coach Jeff Blashill, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.Kindl will have two more chances to draw into a preseason game before the Wings open the regular season Oct. 9 against the visiting Maple Leafs. He's a part-time depth defenseman for Detroit.
