Halak (groin) has been ruled out for the team's opening round series against Florida, Peter Botte of the NY Daily News reports.
Halak has been out since Mar. 8 and missed a total of 18 contests. With Jean-Francois Berube (lower body) also recovering from injury, the team will likely turn the net over to Thomas Greiss. It remains unclear of the 24-year-old Halak would be ready for the next round if the Isles make it. The netminder was having a decent season prior to getting hurt, as he went 18-13-4, including three shutouts. However, if he does suit up again, his fantasy value will be diminished until he can prove he has shaken of the rust.
