Islanders' Ryan Strome: Left unprotected

Strome was not among the players the Islanders elected to protect in the expansion draft, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

There is a widely circulated rumor traveling around that the Islanders have a deal in place with the Golden Knights involving their first-round pick, one that will keep Vegas from selecting players like Brock Nelson, Josh Bailey and Strome. The Isles were disappointed with Strome last season as he only had 13 goals and 30 points, but they still have hope that he will develop into a top-six forward under new coach Doug Weight.
