Maple Leafs' Josh Leivo: Assigned to AHL

Leivo (lower body) was assigned to AHL Toronto on a long-term injury conditioning loan Tuesday, Mark Masters of TSN reports.

There was hope that Leivo would be able to start the season with the big club, but the Maple Leafs elected to let him get adjusted with AHL Toronto instead. Leivo showed a lot of promise as a goal scorer last season, netting five in 12 games despite averaging only 12:19 of ice time, so he'll be worth monitoring for a recall in the near future.
