Bonino (leg) was not protected by the Penguins for the Vegas expansion draft.
Bonino is an unrestricted free agent who would be a great addition to a start-up Golden Knights squad given his contributions on the power play and penalty kill. While the presumption is that Vegas will select netminder Marc-Andre Fleury, there are a number of solid goaltenders available, so perhaps the team would prefer to add a special-teams expert like Bonino. General manager Jim Rutherford has a lot of decisions to make this offseason and one would imagine the 29-year-old is a priority to re-sign if Pittsburgh can fit him under the cap.
