Hayes scored his first goal in 11 games Tuesday, converting on his lone shot in a win over the Panthers.
He'd managed just a lonely assist in the prior 10 games, which has to be considered Hayes' worst stretch of the season. The 24-year-old pivot is still on track to create a whole new set of career highs -- he's one short of both the 17 goals and 45 points he recorded as a rookie -- but after this slump, Hayes will need to light on fire down the stretch to have a shot at the 60-point campaign that seemed like a guarantee only a few weeks ago.
