Rangers Place Lombardi On Unconditional Waivers

Lombardi was placed on unconditional waivers Friday for the purpose of his release, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.After failing to win a roster spot with the Rangers in training camp, Lombardi refused his assignment to AHL Hartford and is electing to pursue free agency. It's highly likely he'll head back to Switzerland, where he shined for Geneve Servette during the 2013-14 campaign.
