Sabres' Johan Larsson: Protected by Sabres

Larsson (wrist) will not be made available for the expansion draft.

Despite appearing in just 36 games last season, the Sabres opted to protect Larsson, who was on pace for career highs across the board. It took Larsson awhile to find his groove in Buffalo, but once he had settled in as the third-line center, he showed marked improvement in all facets of the game. His showing was promising enough for the Sabres to protect him for the expansion draft, and he's expected to re-sign with the team soon. Larsson should be able to make a full recovery from his wrist injury that forced him to miss all of the 2017 calendar year, and upon his return will likely return to a similar role.
