Senators' Bobby Ryan: Exposed by Ottawa

Ryan was not protected by the Senators ahead of the expansion draft, theScore reports.

According to Sportsnet, there had been some confusion as to whether Ryan has a no-move clause in his contract that would prevent him from pivoting from the Senators after four seasons. However, apparently the fine print shows that the winger -- who has five years left on his contract valued at a whopping $7.25 million annually -- can indeed head to another club so long as he's kept away from the minors and has a modified no-trade clause present. Ryan finished with just 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) and a minus-3 rating over 62 games of an injury-riddled 2016-17 campaign. For what it's worth, though, he did secure 110 points between the prior two seasons.
