Niemi will guard the crease on the road Thursday against the Penguins, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.

It's been a rough season for the Stars' netminders, as the team ranks dead last in goals allowed per game at 3.29. Niemi's been a contributor to the lack of defensive production, having allowed two or more goals in 11 of his 13 appearances this season. The 33-year-old will be tested again Thursday against a Penguins lineup that ranks eighth in the NHL in offense at 2.91 goals per game.
