Potter agreed to a one-year contract with Kolner Haie of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Potter has played in just seven NHL games over the last two seasons where he recorded a mere two shots on goal. In the AHL this year, the defenseman tallied 20 points in 70 regular season outings in addition to logging 44 PIM. At 32 years old, Potter is unlikely to find his way back to the NHL following this stint in Europe.
Potter was called up from AHL Milwaukee on Saturday. Potter is expected to see action as the Predators are resting Roman Josi and Shea Weber to prepare for the postseason. Since joining AHL Milwaukee via trade, the blueliner has tallied just three helpers and 12 PIM. While he is a solid defensive players, the 32-year-old does not write himself onto the scoresheet enough to warrant a spot on most fantasy lineups.
Potter was traded to the Predators on Monday in exchange for future considerations. Potter did not draw into any games with Arizona this season as he was playing for AHL Springfield where he tallied five goals and 12 assists in 52 contests. It seems reasonable to expect that the 32-year-old veteran will wind up finishing the year with AHL Milwaukee, the Predators' AHL affiliate.
The Coyotes have signed Corey Potter to a one-year, two-way contract, and sent him to the minors, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
