Voracek scored his 18th goal of the season into an empty net during Thursday's win over Minnesota. The tally improved Voracek to 18 goals and 56 points for the campaign and also moved him ahead of his 55-point showing from last year. While he remains a rock-solid fantasy asset, it might be time to call his 2014-15 outburst (22 goals and 81 points) an outlier and not the norm. Additionally, entering his age-28 season next year, Voracek could also be another step closer to the end of his offensive prime.
Voracek hit the 50-point mark Saturday with a goal in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Penguins. Voracek is on track for another 20-goal season and 60-plus points. However, his minus-20 rating hangs like an anchor in those leagues that count that stat.
Voracek is fine and will play Saturday's outdoor game in Pittsburgh, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Turns out that the injury that Voracek suffered in practice is nothing serious and he'll be ready to go without missing his first game of the season. While he's not scoring at the outrageous clip that he showed in mid-December, he does have four points in his last six games and still averages 3:43 of average ice time on the power play.
Voracek left Thursday's practice prematurely due to an undisclosed injury, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. At this point, it's anyone's guess if this ailment is related to the one that resulted in Voracek leaving a practice session earlier in the week after a puck "deflected off his groin." The veteran playmaker logged 18:32 of ice time in Wednesday's loss to the Capitals, which was about a full minute less than his season average. He also struggled to a minus-3 rating in that contest, though it's tough to tell if that was the direct result of the injury since he's gone minus-20 on the year. At any rate, Voracek is considered day-to-day ahead of Saturday's road game against the Penguins.
Voracek hasn't registered a multi-point game in any of his past 11 outings and has just a goal and four assists during the stretch. There is clearly positive regression ahead of Voracek's 2.6 shooting percentage during the 11-game span, and the established scorer still has a solid 15 goals and 49 points through 60 games for the season. Look for him to breakout of his current offensive funk sooner than later, and it isn't out of the question to attempt a buy-low offer for his services.
