  • Goligoski found the back of the net and picked up a shorthanded assist Thursday, but the 'Yotes lost to the visiting Red Wings in the shootout, 5-4. On his goal, the 31-year-old benefited from a fortuitous redirect off the skate of opposing defenseman Mike Green. Goligoski does have a decent shot from the left point, though, and it's taken him 12 fewer games to match the five goals he had with the Stars last campaign. He's a reliable (if far less than spectacular) fantasy defenseman who seems to achieve at least 100 hits and 100 blocked shots every year.

  • Goligoski went top shelf on a breakaway for his fourth goal of the season in Friday's win over the Hurricanes. Snappy passing from forwards Max Domi and Radim Vrbata led to perfect execution on this goal, and now Goligoski has scored in back-to-back contests with points in eight of his last 10. It's all too easy to overlook this guy in fantasy because he plays for a small-market team and a lousy one at that, but you can often use that to your advantage in DFS tournaments.

  • Goligoski posted an assist with seven blocked shots in Friday's 5-2 road loss against the Stars. Goligoski has posted 113 blocked shots through 60 games. He is a decent depth option for most seasonal fantasy owners with 24 points. However, he is a must-start in pools reward hits (93) and blocked shots.

  • Goligoski dished out two helpers Thursday in Los Angeles. Goligoski also tied Christian Dvorak for the team lead with a plus-3 rating in this 5-3 win. The veteran blueliner has a plus-10 rating without a single negative performance over the past 13 games, which is truly remarkable given the defensive lapses routinely suffered by his teammates.

  • Coyotes' Alex Goligoski: Shakes off illness
    By RotoWire Staff

Goligoski's status for Thursday's game against the Canadiens is not in jeopardy despite missing Monday's practice with an illness, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. This is music to an Arizona goalie's ears, as Goligoski is a proficient shot-blocking defenseman who is also prone to setting up scores. This season, he's registered 16 helpers to go along with 93 redirected shots through 51 games, but one of the downsides to his game is that he's only connected for one goal on 62 shots in 2016-17.
