Enroth was recalled to Anaheim on Sunday. Enroth is in the lineup Sunday against the Caps as well, backing up fellow netminder Jonathan Bernier since John Gibson was a last-minute scratch with a lower-body injury. Enroth has been a disaster between the pipes for the big club this year, failing to record a win while posting horrendous ratios (.872 save percentage, 3.94 GAA) across six appearances. No timetable has been provided yet as to how long Gibson will be shelved, but Enroth will likely remain with the Ducks until he returns.
Enroth was reassigned to AHL San Diego on Friday. John Gibson returned to the Anaheim net after a six-game absence Friday, meaning there was no room on the roster left for Enroth. The Swedish keeper did not draw into a game while up at the NHL level this time around and will head back to the minors for more seasoning.
The Ducks recalled Enroth from AHL San Diego on Wednesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. John Gibson is reportedly day-to-day with a lower-body injury and won't dress for Wednesday's contest, so Enroth will serve as Jonathan Bernier's backup against the Bruins. The 28-year-old backstop will likely head back to the minors as soon as Gibson is cleared to play.
The Maple Leafs traded Enroth to the Ducks on Wednesday in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2018, Curtis Zupke of the Los Angeles Times reports. Enroth comes with a relatively small cap hit of $750,000 and he may end up as a rental player for the Ducks, as he's set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. In four starts and six games total with the Buds this season, the Swede went 0-3-1 with a hefty 3.94 GAA and a useless-for-fantasy .872 save mark. He'll provide extra depth behind starter John Gibson and Jonathan Bernier in Anaheim.
The Maple Leafs assigned Enroth to AHL Toronto on Tuesday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports. The Maple Leafs picked up goaltender Curtis McElhinney off waivers Tuesday, and thus are no longer in need of Enroth's services as a backup. Enroth has struggled in limited NHL action this season, posting an 0-3-1 record with an awful 3.94 GAA and .872 save percentage in six appearances, and will likely spend the rest of the campaign in the minors barring an injury to one of Toronto's other netminders.
