Porter was recalled to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Porter was sent down to the AHL at the end of October and has recorded five goals and four assists in 16 games, as well as having a plus-11 rating. The center played eight games for Pittsburgh at the start the year, grabbing one lone assist.
Porter has been reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, per Seth Rorabaughof the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Porter made eight appearances with the parent club before getting sent down. During that span, he averaged 11:34 TOI, a reasonable amount for a bottom-six forward. He'll need to earn more ice time before warranting a look in fantasy leagues upon his next call-up.
Porter (undisclosed) skated Thursday and appears set to play against the Stars, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. The return of Pascal Dupuis to the lineup could push him to the bench. Porter is one of the Pens' better penalty killers but Dupuis is also strong killing penalties, lessening the need for the one-dimensional skater.
Porter missed practice Wednesday due to an injury suffered in Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Porter's injury could put his status in doubt for Thursday's game against the Stars. If he does end up missing the contest, Bobby Farnham appears the likely candidate to draw into the lineup in his place.
Kevin Porter signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Penguins on Wednesday.
