Del Zotto picked up a goal and an assist in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Devils. Unfortunately for the Flyers, they weren't able to manage any goals other than the ones in which DZ was involved. And unfortunately for the blueliner's fantasy owners, games like this tend to be a tease; he's hit the scoresheet in just two of his last 18 contests, and both were multi-point efforts. Other than that, it's been crickets.
Del Zotto finished with two assists and a plus-5 rating in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Sabres. Del Zotto had been held without a point in each of his previous 12 appearances, and he still hasn't lit the lamp since Dec. 14. His rating sits at minus-9 despite his strong performance in that category here, suggesting the perennially underwhelming blueliner will continue to be tough to trust until he can string together a few more outings like this one.
Del Zotto has failed to register a point in his past 11 games. Del Zotto last marked the points column Jan. 4 and has also missed 12 games during that pointless stretch. With just four goals and 10 points through 34 games, he shouldn't be a fantasy priority. However, the Philadelphia defense lost Mark Streit at the trade deadline, and Del Zotto has logged over 22 minutes in consecutive games. Del Zotto is worth keeping an eye on in deep seasonal settings because he's flashed offensive upside throughout his career.
Del Zotto (lower body) has been cleared to return to action, but will remain out of the lineup against the Flames on Wednesday, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Del Zotto's nine-game absence clearly did not help his case for a spot on the bench, serving only to compound the issues related to his 15-outing goal drought. Over the stretch, the defender managed a lone helper, racked up 12 PIM, and earned a minus-9 rating. With the emergence Ivan Provorov and Brandon Manning, it may take an injury for Del Zotto to work his way back onto the ice.
Del Zotto (lower body) won't play Thursday against the Islanders. Del Zotto will miss an eighth consecutive game Thursday, and the Flyers have yet to reveal how close he might be to returning to the lineup. The blueliner has been somewhat productive with 10 points (four goals, six assists), 53 shots and 110 hits through 30 games this season, making him a solid bench option in deeper leagues.
