Weise recorded a goal, an assist, three shots on net, four hits and a plus-2 rating during Wednesday's win over Pittsburgh. This is the type of performance Philadelphia sought from Weise when he was signed this summer. Entering Wednesday's bout, the 28-year-old winger had just two goals and five points through 50 games, so expecting much offensive production from him going forward is ill-advised. However, Weise could parlay his strong game into a serviceable cross-category finish to the campaign. He's a speculative grab in cavernous seasonal leagues and a potential low-priced flier in daily contests. Just make sure to keep your expectations in check.
Weise has gone 31 games without a goal and has just one assist during the stretch. Weise has been a considerable bust for the Flyers. His only selling point is in the hits column (100), but you can't justify tying up a roster spot in any fantasy setting because of his non-existent offensive numbers. The 28-year-old winger could also find himself watching from the press box again before long.
Weise has just two goals and five points this season, including just a single assist over his past 24 outings. After collecting 24 goals and 56 points the previous two seasons, Weise has been a serious disappointment for Philadelphia. His 82 hits carry modest value, but with such limited offensive production, Weise isn't currently a fantasy priority.
Weise (suspension) is back with his team Thursday, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Weise has served his three-game ban for last week's illegal check to the head of Ducks defenseman Korbinian Holzer. In a corresponding move, the Flyers sent Taylor Leier to the minors. Weise has limited fantasy utility as a bottom-six forward still looking for his first point this season.
Weise will hear from the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Friday morning as the result of his illegal check to the head on Korbinian Holzer of the Ducks in Thursday's game. The powers that be among the player safety division will decide whether a suspension is warranted. It likely doesn't help Weise's case that he left his feet while laying into Holzer, but then again, no penalty was called on the play.
