Lovejoy scored one goal and assisted on another against San Jose on Saturday. The defender is better known for purposely missing the net to set up rebound chances off the boards than beating goalies, but everything went right for Lovejoy in Game 3. He scored only 10 points in 66 games during the regular season and entered Saturday's tilt with four points in 20 playoff games. Still, for one night he lived every defensive defenseman's dream.
Lovejoy scored a goal on three shots to go along with 2 PIM and finished with a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Capitals in Game 1. Lovejoy found the back of the net off of a rebound when Nick Bonino stickhandled around the Capitals defense and put a low shot on net. The goal was Lovejoy's third of his career and first since May of 2014.
Lovejoy (upper body) will return to the lineup Saturday afternoon against the Red Wings, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. It's been a long time coming for Lovejoy, as the veteran has been out of action for over a month. However, there's not likely to be any kind of rush to get him back into fantasy lineups since he owns just nine points in 57 games this season. He's a no-frills presence for the Penguins as a low-end defender.
Lovejoy (upper body) has been cleared to return but may be a healthy scratch Thursday against New Jersey. Lovejoy's participation in Thursday's contest largely depends on whether or not Brian Dumoulin (undisclosed) is able to suit up. The defenseman has missed 15 games with this ailment, but could end up riding the pine as the Penguins seem to be set on the blue line in the eyes of coach Mike Sullivan. Given his limited production, fantasy owners are unlikely to lament the 32-year-old's absence.
Lovejoy (upper body) will sit out of the lineup Sunday against the Capitals, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Lovejoy was considered a game-time call for the Penguins, and it took until just before puck drop for the decision to come down. While he will sit out again Sunday, it certainly appears as though he's very close and probably will be good to go for Thursday's contest against the Devils.
