Smith was assigned to AHL Milwaukee on Monday. After getting called up for one game to replace some sick players, the 31-year-old is headed back down to the minors. Smith will likely be going back and forth from AHL to NHL all season.
Smith was called up to Nashville on Saturday, TSN reports. The 31-year-old bounced back and forth between the AHL and NHL last season, and seems like he'll be doing that again this year.
Smith inked a two-year, two-way contract with the Predators on Friday. Smith was overseas for one season, putting together a lackluster campaign with Bern SC of Swiss-A -- three goals and two helpers in 17 outings. The 31-year-old has a strong case to be a captain for AHL Milwaukee, as the center has dominated the minors at times, especially with AHL Toronto. Smith could make his way onto the Predators, but probably won't make an impact considering their depth at forward.
Trevor Smith signed a two-year contract Wednesday with Bern of the Swiss Elite League, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
