Hedman moved into second in scoring among defensemen with a goal and an assist Sunday in a 4-2 win over Buffalo. Yep, he's one better than Erik Karlsson (71) and just four fewer than Brent Burns (76). Hedman should get a nomination for the Norris for his performance this season.
Hedman set up three goals -- one on the power play -- in a 4-1 win over Toronto on Thursday night. Hedman now sits alone in third in the NHL in assists with 55 -- yes, overall, not just defenders. He's the top of the helper heap from the blue line, too. Only Connor McDavid and Nicklas Backstrom have been more prolific setup men this season. And don't look now, but Hedman is just one point shy of tying Erik Karlsson for second in scoring from the back end. This guy will be vying for a Norris.
Hedman recorded three assists -- two on the power play and the other on the game-clinching goal -- over 29:20 of ice time during Monday's overtime win against Chicago. Hedman is in the midst of a career-best showing, having stepped up his offensive game to the tune of 15 goals, 50 assists and 153 shots. His 31 power-play points are especially impressive, and while it seems like the 26-year-old defenseman has been around forever, he's still in the heart of his offensive prime. Being attached to a prolific offense helps his fantasy floor, and this campaign has established his position among the NHL's elite defensemen entering 2017-18.
Hedman picked up two power-play assists in Thursday's 6-3 victory over the Bruins. He joined with Jonathan Drouin to help out on the first two goals of Nikita Kucherov's hat trick. Hedman is having the best season of his career -- he's now just building on his new career marks in both goals (15) and assists (47), and the Bolts still have nine games left on the schedule for him to keep adding more to the pile.
Hedman scored with 54 seconds left in overtime to deliver a 2-1 victory over Ottawa on Tuesday. He now has a new career high with 14 goals on the season, and Hedman's already surpassed his old career high in points; he's now just one shy of hitting 60 for the first time. The Swedish blueliner has been an incredible pleasure to own in fantasy, and there's no reason to think that'll change down the stretch.
