  • Maple Leafs' Byron Froese: Out again Saturday
    By RotoWire Staff

Froese won't play Saturday against the Blues, Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun reports. Froese participated in Saturday's morning skate, indicating he's likely close to rejoining the Leafs' lineup, but apparently isn't quite ready to return to game action. His next chance to draw back into Toronto's lineup will come Wednesday against Anaheim. Mark Arcobello will remain in the Leafs' lineup Saturday in Froese's absence.

  • Froese out for Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh after suffering a lower-body injury. Froese ran into Mikhail Grabovski of the Islander's on Tuesday and appeared to have injured his left leg. The 24-year-old has had minimal impact on the scoresheet, managing just four points in 29 games this year. The Maple Leafs have replace the center in the lineup with Mark Arcobello.

  • Maple Leafs' Byron Froese: Gets first NHL goal
    By RotoWire Staff

Froese scored his first NHL goal last Saturday against the Kings. His value to the Leafs is based on his backchecking, digging in against other pivots in the faceoff circle and being an irritating defensive player. Froese isn't used to the offensive limelight -- he only got 18 goals in 46 games in the AHL last season. But he has embraced his fourth-line role in the NHL and was third among NHL rookies in faceoffs (52.4 percent in 334 draws) after Saturday's game.

  • Froese picked up two assists in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers. Froese is making a name for himself with his faceoff acumen, especially while shorthanded. So these points really are a bonus.

  • Maple Leafs' Byron Froese: Earning valuable NHL time
    By RotoWire Staff

Froese is expected to lace his skates Friday night against the Rangers, making it his third consecutive appearance, Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun reports. Froese was a fourth-round draft selection for the Blackhawks in 2009. He plays a physical game and proved capable of denting the scoresheet with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL last season, compiling 18 goals, 24 assists, and a plus-22 rating. He's only two games deep into his NHL career, however, so consider giving Froese time to learn the game at the highest level before deploying him in fantasy circles.
