  • Senators' Philip Varone: Inks one-year deal
    By RotoWire Staff

Varone signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Senators on Friday. Varone came over from the Sabres at the trade deadline, notching an assist in just one appearance with the Senators. However, the 25-year-old has been effective in the AHL, totaling 247 points and 192 PIM in 327 career games. The key is to translate that production when he gets a chance in Ottawa.

  • Varone was reassigned to AHL Binghamton on Monday. Varone made one appearance with Ottawa after being traded by Buffalo before the deadline, notching an assist in the final regular season game for the Sens. The 25-year-old will join Matt Puempel, Ben Harpur and Buddy Robinson for AHL Binghamton's final three contests.

  • Senators' Philip Varone: Called up to Ottawa
    By RotoWire Staff

Varone was recalled by the Senators and will be in the lineup Saturday against Boston. Varone gets his first chance to play in a Senators' jersey since being acquired via trade at the deadline. The center will fill in for the injured Curtis Lazar (undisclosed). In 18 contests with AHL Binghamton, the 25-year-old has racked up 19 points and will look to make a good first impression on the organization and fans alike.

  • Senators' Philip Varone: Lands in Ottawa
    By RotoWire Staff

Varone was traded by Buffalo on Saturday along with Jason Akeson, Phil Varone, and a conditional draft pick. Ottawa sent Eric O'Dell, Cole Schneider, Alex Guptill, and Michael Sdao to the Sabres in the deal. Varone has made five appearances with the Sabres this season, tallying a mere two points to date. Although the trade may look large, for fantasy purposes, it shouldn't concern owners across the board. Expect Varone to spend most of his time in AHL Binghamton for the remainder of the season.

  • Sabres' Philip Varone: Sent down to minors Saturday
    By RotoWire Staff

Varone has been assigned to AHL Rochester. Varone picked up an assist and logged 10:40 of ice time Friday night against the Canadiens as a replacement for Daniel Catenacci, who sustained a head injury and was placed on injured reserve. Before Varone can take the next step in the NHL, he'll need to work on his line defense. The 25-year-old has a minus-22 rating even in the minors this season.
