Vey scored his second of the season in a 2-1 shootout loss to Columbus on Thursday. Vey finished off a brilliant pass from Bo Horvat to score his first goal since Jan. 15, and now gives him seven points in 17 games this season. After getting cut to begin the season and then later establishing himself during his call-up, Vey has been a regular in the Canucks' lineup and has find some very good chemistry with former major junior teammate Emerson Etem. Vey is skilled but has had trouble establishing himself as a scoring forward in the NHL due to his lack of consistency and size, but could provide the Canucks with some depth scoring down the stretch. Fantasy owners may keep an eye on Vey on the waiver wire but it's unlikely he'll be of any real help.
Vey picked up a pair of assists -- one on Daniel Sedin's empty-netter -- in Thursday's 4-2 win over Boston. The 24-year-old center has now accumulated four points in his last four games, showing signs of life that coincide with a recent bump in ice time. He's been over 15 minutes in six straight games now, including 17:43 in this one and a whopping 20:30 on Sunday. This might be an interesting moment to note that Vey has a 116-point junior season under his belt as well as 173 points in 217 AHL games. He's certainly worth a look in deeper leagues and as a cheap option in daily formats.
Vey was recalled from AHL Utica on Friday. Vey's recall comes in wake of Henrik Sedin suffering a lower-body injury Thursday against Philadelphia. If Henrik isn't able to suit up Friday in Detroit, expect Vey to draw into the lineup. Vey has recorded 29 points in 93 career games in the NHL, but has scored at close to a point per game pace in the AHL. If Vey is given a shot in Vancouver's top-six forward group, he could find himself on the score sheet.
Linden Vey was placed on waivers Monday and cleared Tuesday, reports The Province. He will head to AHL Utica.
Linden Vey signed a one-year, $1 million contract extension with the Canucks on Monday, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reports.
