Bournival was reassigned to the minors Tuesday. Bournival averaged a mere 6:47 of ice time in his three appearances during this stint and will head back to the AHL without having accrued any points. With Syracuse this season, the winger has been significantly more productive as he has garnered five goals and six helpers, along with a plus-11 rating through 17 contests.
Bournival was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Wednesday. Bournival hasn't played in an NHL game since he was a member of the Habs in the 2014-15 campaign. As a result, fantasy owners shouldn't look at this ascension to the parent club as anything more than an organizational depth move.
Bournival signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Lightning on Friday. Bournival, who is coming off a concussion, played just 20 games in the AHL last season because of the injury. And in fact, he missed close to one calendar year because of it. Bournival isn't known for offence, but he's darn fast. But at this point, his future is likely in the AHL.
Bournival (concussion) has cleared waivers, per Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada. Habs head coach Michel Therrien would like Bournival to play in the AHL, per Sportsnet's Eric Engels, and that is now a possible arrangement since he went unclaimed during the waiver process. Bournival recently returned to practice and is still trying to make a full recovery from a concussion that has bothered him since last season.
Bournival was placed on waivers by Montreal on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Bournival has yet to play for the Canadians this season as he continues to deal with a persistent concussion. If he clears waivers, he'll likely be assigned to the minors.
