Bournival signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Lightning on Friday. Bournival, who is coming off a concussion, played just 20 games in the AHL last season because of the injury. And in fact, he missed close to one calendar year because of it. Bournival isn't known for offence, but he's darn fast. But at this point, his future is likely in the AHL.
Bournival (concussion) has cleared waivers, per Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada. Habs head coach Michel Therrien would like Bournival to play in the AHL, per Sportsnet's Eric Engels, and that is now a possible arrangement since he went unclaimed during the waiver process. Bournival recently returned to practice and is still trying to make a full recovery from a concussion that has bothered him since last season.
Bournival was placed on waivers by Montreal on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Bournival has yet to play for the Canadians this season as he continues to deal with a persistent concussion. If he clears waivers, he'll likely be assigned to the minors.
Bournival (concussion) returned to practice Monday, Sportsnet reports. It's been a long road for Bournival, who has been out with this lingering concussion since last season, but he's finally close to game action again. He said he felt good after his first day back at practice, and it's conceivable that he could be back out there for the Habs within a week.
Bournival (concussion) skated following Monday's practice session and took shots on goalie Mike Condon, the Montreal Gazette reports. Bournival will remain right where he is for now -- inactive and on injured reserve. The Habs are rolling, leading the Eastern Conference with six straight wins to start the season heading into Tuesday night's game against Western Conference leader St. Louis.
