Dalpe was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Monday, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports. The former Ohio State Buckeye was also claimed off waivers by the Jackets on Monday. Normally, a player claimed off waivers cannot be sent down without first being waived again, but as Portzline explains, Dalpe's case is different because his "waiver clock" had not expired yet. Dalpe may be recalled to the big club at some point before the end of the season, but don't expect him to make any kind of fantasy impact.
Dalpe was picked up off the waiver wire from the Wild on Monday, Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com reports. Dalpe last appeared in a game for Minnesota on Oct. 29 and has either been a healthy scratch or playing down in the minors since. In those nine appearances, the center averaged a paltry 8:33 of ice time, but did managed to tally a goal and two helpers. With David Clarkson (back) and Matt Calvert (oblique) still dealing with injuries, Dalpe will provide some important depth to the Blue Jackets.
Dalpe was put on waivers Sunday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The center was put on waivers to reset his waiver clock, as well as to give the Wild time to react before Monday's game if he were to get claimed. If he clears, he will stay in the NHL and is expected to play in Minnesota's next three games, which come in a four-day stretch.
Dalpe was recalled from AHL Iowa on Sunday. Dalpe was activated from injured reserve and sent to the minors in December, having drawn into just nine games this season at the top level. He does have three points in those contests, but his lack of anticipated ice time and absence from the man advantage dulls most of his fantasy appeal.
The Wild activated Dalpe (knee) off injured reserve and subsequently reassigned him to AHL Iowa on Saturday. Dalpe has missed Minnesota's last 20 games with a knee injury, so he'll head to the minors to play himself back into game shape before returning to the big club. He may not be in the AHL for long, however, as the Wild may need the veteran pivot as soon as Tuesday against the Avalanche with Erik Haula's (lower body) status up in the air for that contest.
