Pageau tallied a goal and two assists in Monday's win over the Lightning. Pageau has been on a roll of late, collecting at least one point in all four games since the All-Star break with two goals and five assists in that span. The 23-year-old has already topped both his goals and assists totals from last season, but his main value still lies in deeper formats that reward hits.
Pageau tallied his 12th goal, an assist, four shots and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to Pittsburgh. He also won 14 of 20 faceoffs while skating 19:48, the most of any Ottawa center in this one. The 23-year-old Pageau has seen his minutes rise significantly of late -- he's averaged 18:40 over the last six games versus 15:39 for the season -- but that can be chalked up almost entirely to the absence of Kyle Turris (ankle) from the lineup in recent days. Pageau has only three points in that six-game span, so he hasn't exactly broken out. When Turris gets back out there, Pageau will surely see his ice time drop back to its more typical level.
Pageau is still looking to rack up a point after two regular season team wins. Besides two penalty minutes and one shot on goal - Pageau runs the rest of his stat sheet with zeros across the board. The fourth year center struggles with ice-time averaging only 15:05 minutes between the first two games of the season.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau signed a two-year, one-way, $1.8 million contract with the Senators on Thursday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau is still recovering from a leg injury, likely stemming from Game 5 of the Senators' first-round series loss to the Canadiens, TSN.ca reports.
