Ference is set to undergo hip surgery which will end his season. Ference is a 15-year veteran with just 225 points in 907 career games. At this stage of his career, Ference can probably wear the leadership hat just as well off the ice as he could on it.
Ference has been placed on injured reserved Monday Jason Gregor of TSN 1260 reports. Ference was activated off injured reserve a week ago, but never saw any game action and appears to still be dealing with hip issues. He'll be eligible to return whenever healthy, but there's no indication of when that will be at this point.
Ference (undisclosed) was activated off injured reserve by the Oilers on Sunday, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports. With Oscar Klefbom out, Ference is expected to draw into the lineup, for the Oilers' next game Monday against the Bruins. He's expected to replace Nikita Nikitin on Monday, though it's not official yet.
Ference (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. It isn't clear what kind of injury Ference is dealing with, but it's not as if the 36-year-old blueliner's presence on the Oilers' roster will be missed, as he's only suited up for six of Edmonton's 27 games this season, logging an average of 13:04 of ice time in those tilts. The former eighth-round pick can be considered as out indefinitely.
The Oilers have placed Andrew Ference on the trade block, reports Edmonton Journal.
