  • Rangers' Magnus Hellberg: Back in AHL
    By RotoWire Staff

Hellberg was sent down to AHL Hartford on Thursday, The Swede's reassignment to the minors indicates that fellow countryman Henrik Lundqvist's return from a hip injury is imminent. Hellberg didn't play at all during his weeklong stint with the Blueshirts.

  • Hellberg was recalled from AHL Hartford on Thursday. Starter Henrik Lundqvist (lower body) is expected to be out until early April, so there's a chance that Hellberg gets a start or two down the stretch. However, Antti Raanta is the guy you'll want to consider as a sneaky fantasy option since he'll temporarily hold down the No. 1 job.

  • Rangers' Magnus Hellberg: Demoted Tuesday
    By RotoWire Staff

Hellberg was reassigned to AHL Hartford on Tuesday. The Swede has faced all of four shots in the NHL this season, appearing in just one game. With the Rangers not having a game scheduled until Friday, Hellberg's return to the minors is very likely to be a temporary stop, as Henrik Lundqvist (lower body) isn't expected to return to the crease until April. Expect Hellberg to be recalled in time for Friday's tilt with Florida and for him to serve as Antti Raanta's backup for the time being.

  • Hellberg was recalled from AHL Hartford on an emergency basis Saturday. This move was necessitated by a lower-body injury to starting goalie Henrik Lundqvist. Since the King is expected to miss 2-to-3 weeks of action, Hellberg could stay up with the parent club for approximately 10 games if the former doesn't return until the latter end of that timeline. He'll serve as the backup to interim No. 1 Antti Raanta, but his 11-11-2 record, 2.91 GAA and .902 save percentage with the Wolf Pack this year show that he's not quite ready for a roll beyond that of an emergency fill-in at the NHL level.

  • Rangers' Magnus Hellberg: Returned to minors
    By RotoWire Staff

Hellberg was sent down to AHL Hartford on Friday. From the onset, Hellberg's recall was only going to be temporary as it was a result of Antti Raanta leaving the team for the birth of a child. With Raanta expected to be back in the fold for Sunday's matchup with the Flames, Hellberg became expendable. The 25-year-old has been serviceable this year with the Wolf Pack, as he has posted a 10-9-5 record with a .905 save percentage. With Raanta a potential target for the expansion draft, Hellberg might be worth a look as a stash option in deeper dynasty/keeper leagues.
