The Red Wings claimed Frk off waivers Tuesday and subsequently assigned him to AHL Grand Rapids, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Frk was cut by the Red Wings ahead of Opening Night, and then he became property of the Hurricanes when they claimed him off waivers. It's clear that Detroit's GM Ken Holland never truly wanted to part ways with the prospect; after all, he's known for rigid work ethic and scoring ability at the lower levels. We'd expect that Frk will be a popular call-up option if and when injuries transpire up front.
Frk was placed on waivers by Carolina on Monday, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports. If the 23-year-old clears waivers, he'll head to AHL Charlotte. He was claimed by Carolina off waivers earlier this season, so there's no guarantee he will clear, but given his unremarkable NHL debut, perhaps he has a better shot at clearing.
Frk made his NHL debut Tuesday against the Oilers, registering a minus-1 rating in 10:13 of ice time. Claimed off waivers from Detroit in early October, Frk was one of several fresh faces in the Canes' lineup Tuesday. Looking ahead, it remains to be seen whether Frk will be a full-time player or spare part this season. Either way, he does not possess much by way of fantasy value at this point.
Frk was claimed off waivers by the Hurricanes, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. The forward notched 44 points in 67 games with AHL Grand Rapids last season. He will join Carolina training camp on Monday.
Frk, along with two other skaters, were placed on waivers by the Red Wings on Saturday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Frk will join defenseman Nick Jensen and forward Mitch Callahan on the waiver wire as the Red Wings decrease their roster size to the 23-man limit prior to Opening Night. Wrk, an edgy player with playmaking skills, netted 27 goals and dished out 17 assists over 67 games for AHL Grand Rapids last season.
