McGinn has been reassigned to AHL Charlotte, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports. McGinn delivered a goal in Thursday night's win over the Blues, but the Hurricanes have activated Nathan Gerbe (lower body) from injured reserve and he's a role player that needs to get back in the fold. As for McGinn, he's a rookie who could benefit from consistent playing time in the minors.
McGinn was recalled from AHL Charlotte on Sunday. McGinn's recall comes after fellow rookie Phil Di Giuseppe left Saturday's game with an upper-body injury. If Di Giuseppe isn't able to go Monday, expect McGinn to slot in to the Hurricanes lineup. In 14 games with Carolina this season, McGinn has just three points, though he has scored 10 goals and 19 points in 19 games for Charlotte.
