Griffith was assigned to AHL Providence on Saturday. Griffith suited up for two contests during his most-recent stint with the big club, notching a single assist in those games. The Bruins recalled blueliner Colin Miller in a corresponding move Saturday, indicating the team would like additional depth at defense rather than forward at this juncture. Griffith has tallied an impressive 27 points in 24 games with AHL providence this season.
Griffith is in line to skate on a line with Loui Eriksson and Patrice Bergeron in Friday's Winter Classic, CSN New England reports. With left winger Brad Marchand set to serve a three-game suspension and center David Krejci injured, the B's group of top-six forwards has been shuffled around, with Griffith working on the team's top trio and Matt Beleskey, Ryan Spooner and Brett Connolly making up Boston's second line. It's an arrangement that could stick for a few games, which makes Griffith worthy of some short-term fantasy consideration.
Griffith has been recalled from AHL Providence, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports. Griffith's road back to the NHL proved to be a long one. He suffered an MCL strain early in training camp and then had to bide his time with the Baby Bruins before getting called upon to the parent club Tuesday. He was productive offensively with Providence, netting 10 goals to complement 17 assists in 24 games. An upper-body injury to David Krejci and his corresponding placement on injured reserve necessitated Griffith's ascension to the parent club.
The Bruins have assigned Griffith (knee) to AHL Providence. Griffith -- who suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee back on Sept. 20 -- no longer carries an injured/non-roster status and is thus eligible to resume play at the AHL level. Though Griffith recorded six goals and 10 points in 30 NHL games with the Bruins last season, he finished up the campaign with Providence and that's where his current campaign will commence. Once he has some games under his belt though, Griffith figures to be on the B's short-list of call-ups when injuries hit the big club up front.
Seth Griffith (knee) has resumed skating, the Boston Herald reports.
