Stransky was placed on waivers by the Stars on Thursday. If unclaimed, Stransky will return to AHL Texas where he spent the previous three seasons. Last year, the winger put up his best season in the minors with 23 goals and 16 helpers. The 23-year-old seemed like a long shot to make the Opening Day roster and may have to wait another year before making his NHL debut.
Stransky received a one-year contract extension from the Stars on Saturday, reports General Fanager. The 2011 sixth-round draft pick has spent the last four seasons playing for AHL Texas and has yet to make his NHL debut. Last season he scored 23 goals and 39 points in 74 games in the AHL. With the NHL club's forward depth, it's unlikely that he'll be a factor in fantasy next season.
Matej Stransky has been reassigned to the AHL by the Stars.
