The Coyotes reassigned Dauphin to AHL Tucson on Tuesday. Arizona recalled Christian Fischer in a corresponding transaction Tuesday, so this move boils down to a simple swap of forward depth. Dauphin has only managed to tally three points in 24 games with the big club this season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him finish out the 2016-17 campaign in the minors.
Dauphin was called up from AHL Tucson on Sunday, Sarah McLellan of AZCentral Sports reports. The forward hasn't played in the NHL since Jan. 19, so he might be a bit rusty in his return. When he was playing regularly, he only notched three points in 24 games, so he won't be much of a fantasy option.
Dauphin was returned to AHL Tuscon on Friday. The pesky pivot drew into four of the last six contests as a reinforcement option with Martin Hanzal tending to a personal matter. Hanzal will be back for the next one, so the 'Yotes really had no need to keep Dauphin at the NHL level. He's picked up two goals and an assist in 24 games this season -- which signifies slow progress offensively -- but the minus-2 rating actually looks good when you consider his team carries a putrid minus-50 goal differential.
Dauphin was recalled from AHL Tuscon on Thursday. A number of Coyotes forwards are ailing, and Dauphin has been a popular reinforcement option this season. The 21-year-old has maintained a point-per-game pace with the AHL's Roadrunners this season; his physical style could lead to playing time against an imposing Jets team Friday.
Dauphin was sent down to AHL Tucson on Sunday. The Coyote's had three forwards go down on Friday, so Dauphin and a few others were called up for Saturday's game, and promptly sent back down. He registered 10:54 with only a single shot on goal and no points in the game. He will likely be back up in the majors at some point this season.
