Fiddler signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Devils on Friday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports. The 36-year-old will enter his 14th year in the league after most recently spending five seasons in Dallas. He'll provide added depth at center with Travis Zajac, Adam Henrique, and Jacob Josefson all likely ahead of Fiddler in the pecking order.
Fiddler notched two goals -- one shorthanded -- and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 6-2 rout of the Blackhawks. Fiddler had not found twine in seven straight coming into Tuesday, but the 35-year-old was able to register his second multi-goal outing of the season against a struggling Scott Darling. The center has now lit the lamp 12 times this year, one short of tying his career-high.
Fiddler snagged his seventh goal of the season in Tuesday's victory over the Jets. Tuesday's tally was Fiddler's first point in 10 contests and just his 16th of the season. Averaging under 12 minutes of ice time per game, the veteran's lack of offensive production is unlikely to end any time soon. A role player for the Stars, the center adds little in terms of fantasy value.
Fiddler assisted on the lone Dallas goal in Thursday's loss to the Flames. That gives the 35-year-old center eight assists and 11 points on the season. He's consistently seeing around 10-12 minutes a night, limiting his already limited value.
Fiddler assisted on the lone Stars goal in Friday's loss to the Oilers. That assist halts a nine-game stretch where Fiddler didn't have a point. Not only was he held without a point over that stretch, he was held without a shot in four of those games. Fiddler's contributions for a fantasy roster are minimal.
