Getzlaf scored for the first time since Dec. 31, and added an assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over Los Angeles. Getzlaf has dished out a healthy 30 assists in 45 games played, but has found the back of the net just four times after scoring at least 25 goals in each of the last two seasons. His unsustainably low 4.4 percent shooting percentage is partly to blame for the lack of scoring, so expect the veteran center to pick up the pace moving forward as that number reverts closer to his career mark of 12 percent.
Getzlaf picked up a pair of assists -- one on an empty-netter and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Bruins. He's been racking up helpers steadily -- eight in the last eight games -- but Getzlaf remains stuck on just three goals for the season, with the last one having come on New Year's Eve in Edmonton. He's never been an insanely high-volume shooter, but Getzlaf still averaged nearly three shots per game last season; he's barely at two per game so far this year, and before Tuesday's pair, he'd only had two in the prior four games. The Ducks would surely like to see him be more assertive in that regard, considering he continues to play major minutes as the top-line center.
Getzlaf assisted on Anaheim's lone goal in Sunday's loss to the Red Wings. That give Getzlaf points in back-to-back games after the starting off the new year by going scoreless in three straight. Getzlaf now has 25 points in 37 games this season, not inspiring by any means but still good enough for second on the team behind Corey Perry. Despite the dip his numbers have taken this season, Getzlaf is still a decent fantasy option down the middle.
Getzlaf scored his second goal of the season on the power play and had an assist in Sunday's win over Philadelphia. While it's crazy to think Getzlaf has only scored twice in 30 games this season, he's now riding a three-game point streak and is up to 22 points total. He hasn't been shooting much, so the goals have been harder to come by, but if Anaheim can turn things around in the second half of the season, Getzlaf will be right in the middle of it.
Getzlaf has failed to ripple the mesh in 13 consecutive games now. Somehow, this isn't his only 13 game goalless stretch this season, as he tallied his first (and only) goal of the season in his 14th game of the season. Perhaps 14 will be Getzlaf's lucky number, and he'll be able to get back on the board in Monday's game against the Islanders. Getzlaf has been putting up assists with some consistency, which is somewhat of a consolation to the lack of goal production, but not comforting considering the numbers we're used to seeing from him.
