  • Phaneuf had a huge Saturday in a 4-3 overtime win in Game 2 over Boston. He scored the game-winner and set up two other goals. Neon Dion was lit up Saturday and actually helped orchestrate the Sens' comeback from a 3-1 deficit. He set up both of the Sens' third-period goals to send the game to OT and then slammed home the winner. Phaneuf is a far better player in Ottawa than he was in Toronto, simply because he's playing in a more appropriate role. It was his first-ever playoff goal.

  • Phaneuf is likely to be one of several regulars not traveling for Sunday's game against the Islanders, Brent Wallace of TSN reports. Phaneuf's gear remained in his stall at the team's home arena, likely indicating he will stay behind in Ottawa while the team travels to Brooklyn for the regular-season finale. Avoid Phaneuf for DFS purposes.

  • Phaneuf heads into Saturday's game against the Jets scoreless with a minus-3 rating over his past four outings. Phaneuf had a dismal March, posting just four assists and a minus-1 rating. His last goal came Feb. 16 in New Jersey, a span of 21 games. The veteran has managed just 30 points through 76 games, but he is still contributing a healthy amount of hits (122) and blocked shots (149).

  • Phaneuf collected two assists during Monday's win over Boston. The helpers snapped a five-game point drought from Phaneuf, but while he didn't mark the scoresheet during that stretch, he did chip in 12 shots, 14 PIM and 14 blocked shots. His cross-category production is valuable and it buoys his fantasy stock when the offense dries up for a stretch. It's been a solid campaign from Phaneuf, and he should be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues.

  • Phaneuf is dealing with an illness and might not play in Monday's game against Boston. The blueliner has been cold lately, going pointless in his last five games despite averaging 24:07 over that span. His status for Monday's game will be up in the air until shortly before game time, so owners should keep their eyes peeled when the Senators go out for warmups. If he misses Monday, his next chance to return will come Wednesday.
