  • Sharks' Paul Martin: Assists in shutout win
    By RotoWire Staff

Martin had an assist and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Oilers. Martin has just 16 points in 63 games and averages less than a shot per game. He ranks fourth on his own team in blocked shots and 11th in hits. He's a good NHL defenseman, but doesn't do much in fantasy. He is a depth option.

  • Martin had an assist in his 21:24 of ice time during Wednesday's shootout loss to Colorado. The assist is nice, but Martin was again held without a shot. It's hard to rely on him for offensive production when it hasn't been happening and the underlying numbers don't give much hope of things turning around. He has a single shot in his last nine games.

  • Sharks' Paul Martin: Finally ends goal drought
    By RotoWire Staff

Martin at last brought an end to his 27-game goalless streak Tuesday with an empty netter against Colorado. Martin's empty-net tally was certainly an oddity, considering there was still over 11 minutes left on the clock. Not a prolific scorer to begin with, the veteran's value has dropped even further since he signed with San Jose in the offseason and is no longer being consistently used on the power-play. With just 11 points on the year, an offensive breakout from the defenseman is likely to be just as rare as his Tuesday goal.

  • Sharks' Paul Martin: Leads in blocked shots
    By RotoWire Staff

Martin didn't add a point, but took two shots and blocked a team-leading four shots in Saturday's overtime win against Dallas. With 66 blocked shots in 40 games, Martin has been doing a good job getting in front of the puck. He's been at his best recently, with 10 blocked shots in the last three games.

  • Sharks' Paul Martin: Snaps slump
    By RotoWire Staff

Martin snapped a 12-games pointless streak with an assist in Sunday's overtime loss to Chicago. That assist gives Martin seven on the year and eight points. He's not a reliable offensive producer and that runs deep. In his last 10 games, he's been held without a shot in seven. He's averaging well under a shot per game this season. Where he does provide some value is that he's put up nine hits and 17 blocked shots in those 10 games.
