  • Crosby and the Penguins won the Stanley Cup on Sunday -- following a 3-1 win over the Sharks -- with the captain claiming his first Conn Smythe Trophy for MVP of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Crosby pitched in two helpers Sunday to give him 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in the playoffs. He played a disciplined brand of hockey against the Sharks, doing his best to avoid penalties despite repeated attempts from the men in teal to get under his skin -- his roughing minor on Marc-Edouard Vlasic in Game 5 was his lone penalty in the entire series. Crosby now has two Stanley Cup wins since joining the league as the first overall draft pick in 2005, with his first taste of Lord Stanley having taken place with the Pens in 2009. Crosby's just 28 years old and remains well above a point-per-game pace: 938 points (338 goals, 600 assists) through 707 career regular-season contests. There's no reason why he won't fly off draft boards yet again in 2016-17.

  • Crosby tallied an assist and won 17 of 24 faceoffs Wednesday against San Jose. His final win in the circle was perhaps the most important. Crosby won the draw cleanly and passed it back to Kris Letang, who flicked the puck to Conor Sheary. Sheary then beat goalie Martin Jones for the OT game-winner. Crosby scored three game-winning goals in the last round and can now add an assist on another game-winner. He's scored six goals and 17 points in 20 playoff contests.

  • Crosby chipped in with a power-play assist in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday. Pens coach Mike Sullivan called Crosby a "threat" every time he went over the boards. He's scored six goals and 16 points -- including 10 points on the power play -- through the first 19 games of the playoffs.

  • Crosby was held pointless Thursday but registered a team-high six shots and tied Evgeni Malkin with a team-leading three takeaways. He played 23 minutes in Game 7, nearly five full minutes more than he did in Game 6 (18:09). Crosby, who collected three game-winning goals in the series, nearly lifted a back-hander over goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy but was stoned by the Lightning tender. The center heads back to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2008-09.

  • Penguins' Sidney Crosby: Game winners galore
    By RotoWire Staff

Crosby has scored three goals against the Lightning and each has served as Pittsburgh's game-winning goal. The centerman has taken heat in the playoffs for a lack of dominant play, but he's come up big in the big games. He totaled just 18:09 against Tampa Bay on Tuesday, so he should be primed for Thursday's Game 7.
