Eaves collected a pair of helpers in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Predators on Tuesday. That's four points in four games since arriving in Orange County for the former Star, who seems to be fitting in quite well with the Ducks. Eaves has also thrown 16 shots on goal while averaging 1:44 on the power play during that span, so the early Anaheim returns have been encouraging for the Alberta native.
Eaves was traded to the Ducks on Friday in exchange for a conditional second-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. The draft pick turns into a first-round selection if Eaves plays in 50 percent of games in the first two rounds of the playoffs and the Ducks make it to the conference final. Eaves was was having an outstanding season for the Stars, leading the team with a career-high 21 goals and was tied for fourth in the NHL wth 11 power play goals. He should provide a big boost to an Anaheim offense that is currently averaging just 2.56 goals per game.
Eaves scored two goals Saturday in a 5-2 win over the Hurricanes. The goals were numbers 20 and 21, which sets a new career mark. Ditto points with 35. Eaves has always been injury prone, but this year, he has managed to play in 55 of the Stars 56 games by sitting out practices and morning skates. He's rolling alongside Jamie Benn at even strength and absolutely shredding with the man advantage. Why isn't he on your roster?
Eaves notched a goal on five shots, an assist and a plus-1 rating in Thursday's 4-3 loss against Winnipeg. We've been waiting for Eaves to come crashing down in what's been a stunning breakout season, but aside from a 16-game skid you can cherry pick that saw him record just four points and a minus-5 rating, he's actually been stunningly consistent. The veteran winger has four goals and five helpers in the last seven games, so he continues to reward fantasy owners who believed in him enough to snatch him off the wire.
Eaves scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 3-2 loss against the Wild. Eaves has lit the lamp in back-to-back games and three of the past four outings. The 32-year-old is enjoying a career year with 18 goals and 30 points, and he is on pace to shatter his previous highs of 20 goals (2005-06) and 32 points (2006-07). While his plus-minus can be a deterrent, Eaves is a solid fantasy option.
