Mitchell picked up a pair of assists in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Stars. Mitchell eclipsed double-digit apples for the fifth campaign in a row, all thanks to his short stretch of three helpers in the last two. The 31-year-old has never been one to light up the scoreboard, as this was his first multi-assist game of the year.
Mitchell notched his 10th goal of the year and a pair of penalty minutes Thursday in a 4-2 loss to the Flyers. The past three seasons have seen the veteran produce goal totals of 10, 11, and 11 again, so Mitchell's rounding right into line with his typical production in that category; however, he has just eight assists this year after notching 21 and 15 in the last two seasons. That leaves him on the outside looking in at the vast majority of fantasy rosters.
Mitchell will suit up for Wednesday's matchup against the Canadiens, Terry Frei of The Denver Post reports. Mitchell left Tuesday's practice after colliding with a teammate, but fully participated in Wednesday's morning skate and has been cleared to play. Mitchell, who has eight goals and seven assists in 48 games, will be centering the fourth line with Cody McLeod and Andreas Martinsen.
Mitchell suffered an undisclosed injury during practice Tuesday, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. Details of the injury weren't immediately available, so Mitchell's status for Wednesday's tilt against the Canadiens remains up in the air. The 31-year-old hasn't been much of a factor offensively this season with just 15 points skating in a bottom-six forward role, so most owners may be unaffected but there should be an official decision prior to puck drop Wednesday.
Mitchell (oblique) will play Tuesday against the Devils, Marc Moser of the Altitude Radio Network reports. Mitchell has missed 11 of the Avalanche's last 13 games with an oblique injury, but has finally recovered from the ailment, and will return to game action Tuesday against New Jersey. The 30-year-old center has been relatively productive when healthy this season, potting five goals in 13 games. He will likely return to a bottom-six role in Tuesday's tilt.
