News: Matt Corrente has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Lightning, reports.
Analysis: Matt Corrente, who last played in the NHL (with New Jersey) in 2010-11, slots in as an organizational depth blueliner, on the heels of a 2013-14 campaign in which he notched 11 points and 136 PIM in 72 games for AHL Charlotte.
    • Canes' Corrente Clears Waivers

News: Matt Corrente cleared waivers Wednesday.
Analysis: After going unclaimed, Matt Corrente will open the season at AHL Charlotte and could remain there all season. He hasn't appeared in an NHL game since the 2010-11 campaign.
    • Hurricanes Send Down Corrente

News: Matt Corrente will be assigned to AHL Charlotte on Tuesday if he clears waivers.
Analysis: Matt Corrente has not played in an NHL game since the 2010-11 season with the Devils. He's just organizational depth.
    • Hurricanes Sign Corrente To One-Year Deal

News: Matt Corrente signed a one-year, one-way contract with the Hurricanes on Wednesday, TSN's Aaron Ward reports.
Analysis: The former first-round draft pick recorded two assists in 11 games in the AHL last season. Matt Corrente figures to spend this season in the minors as well, likely with AHL Albany.
    • Devils' Corrente (Shoulder) Out For Season

News: Matt Corrente underwent successful shoulder surgery Friday and is out for the season, The New Jersey Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: If the lockout ends and there is a 2012-13 season, the Devils won't have Matt Corrente available. The 24-year-old former first-round pick has yet to score a goal in 34 NHL games.
    • Devils' Corrente Signs AHL Contract

News: Matt Corrente has signed with AHL Albany, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Matt Corrente will remain with the Devils' AHL affiliate in Albany, where he recorded eight points (2G, 6A) in 39 games last season.
    • Corrente Waived By Devils

News: Matt Corrente was placed on waivers Monday with the intention of sending him to the AHL, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Matt Corrente's a physical defender and a former first-round pick, but has struggled to find his comfort zone with the Devils. Unfortunately, he's done little in the last year to stand out amongst a largely indiscernible group of defenders, and has recently returned from a shoulder injury. Odds are, he'll be a call-up if the Devils suffer injuries.
    • Devils' Corrente Returns

News: Matt Corrente played his first game since January in Saturday's preseason loss to the Islanders, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Matt Corrente looked a little uneasy at times, but settled in. He had a goal deflect off him, but he's still getting his feet under him and played 18:19 in the loss. Corrente's one of several defenders with indiscernible skill sets vying for one of the team's final spots, so he'll have to do something to distinguish himself, as he doesn't have the offensive upside of a Matt Taormina, Anton Stralman or fourth-overall pick Adam Larsson. If we were to speculate, Corrente's likely going to start in the AHL but will see time with the big club.
    • RFA Corrente Has Restored Health

News: Corrente, a restricted free agent who sustained a shoulder injury after a fight last January, indicated that he is now healthy, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: "My health is 110 percent. I'm doing great. I can do everything and I'm feeling good about it," Corrente said Friday. "I wish the season started next week. I feel like I'm ready to go. I've been skating and I feel great ..." While it's good to see Corrente with restored health, one must take into account that he has yet to be signed to a new contract by the Devils. Of course, even healthy, he's more of a stay-at-home defenseman rather than someone who can help you to much success in the fantasy realm.
    • Devis' Corrente Not Close

News: Although Corrente (right shoulder) has been skating for nearly three weeks, general manager Lou Lamoriello said the defenseman is not ready to practice yet, the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: "He's been skating and he's still not where he should be," Lamoriello said. Corrente hasn't played since Jan. 14, and time is starting to run out on a possible return. The regular season ends in a little more than three weeks.
