Canucks' Adam Cracknell: Scores in Monday's loss

Cracknell scored his third goal of the season in Monday's loss to the Canadiens. Cracknell had a nice stretch in the beginning of the season, scoring in two of the team's opening four games and adding an assist a few games after that, but the 30-year-old had been held off the scoresheet in five straight coming into Monday's contest. That sort of cold spell is more in line with what should be expected out of the fourth line center, who has never eclipsed seven points in his five year career.

    • Makes Canucks' Roster

News: Adam Cracknell has made the Canucks' final roster and will serve as the fourth-line center, The Province reports.
Analysis: A 30-year-old veteran who's never really caught on as a full-timer in the NHL, Adam Cracknell owns 17 points in 82 career games and shouldn't bring much from a fantasy standpoint while he's skating on Vancouver's fourth line.
    • Canucks Ink Cracknell To Two-Way Deal

News: Adam Cracknell signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canucks on Tuesday.
Analysis: Mostly due to the Blue Jackets' array of injuries last season, Adam Cracknell saw 17 games at the NHL level, producing no goals and one assist. He'll function as an organizational depth piece for the Canucks, but will once again require several players to go down before skating in the NHL. Even if that materializes, he'd likely be limited to a bottom-six role with limited ice time.
    • Blues Acquire Cracknell From Jackets

News: Adam Cracknell was traded to the Blues on Thursday for future considerations.
Analysis: The 29-year-old Adam Cracknell spent time in the Blues' organization from 2009 through 2014, so he'll join the team as a known commodity. Expect him to report to AHL Chicago, with little chance of earning a call-up to the Blues unless a rash of injuries occurs.
    • Jackets Assign Cracknell To AHL Springfield

News: Adam Cracknell was assigned to AHL Springfield on Tuesday, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Jackets needed to send Adam Cracknell back to the minors in order to open up a roster spot for the much-anticipated returns of Cam Atkinson and Mark Letestu. Cracknell tallied one assist through 17 games with Columbus this season, so his contributions shouldn't be missed too much.
    • Jackets Place Cracknell On Waivers

News: Adam Cracknell was placed on waivers by the Blue Jackets on Monday, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Adam Cracknell will now need to pass through waivers, at which point the Jackets will need to decide whether to send him to the AHL or release him. The move was required in order to open up a roster spot for the anticipated returns of Cam Atkinson and Mark Letestu on Tuesday.
    • Jackets' Cracknell (Knee) Back In Lineup Sunday

News: Adam Cracknell (knee) returned to the lineup Sunday against the Kings, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Adam Cracknell is set to join the third line at left wing alongside Michael Chaput and Jared Boll. The Blue Jackets are short-handed, meaning players could receive extra shifts to cover up the missing 12th forward.
    • Jackets' Cracknell Suffers Apparent Knee Injury

News: Adam Cracknell left Friday's game early in the third period with an apparent left knee injury, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: It appeared as though Adam Cracknell's left skate got caught as he was checked into the corner, and he immediately clutched at his left knee after going down. The 29-year-old winger was unable to put weight on the leg as he left the ice, indicating it could be a serious issue, but consider Cracknell day-to-day until more information becomes available.
    • Blue Jackets Claim Cracknell Off Waivers

News: The Blue Jackets claimed Adam Cracknell off waivers from the Kings on Tuesday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: Adam Cracknell is a fringe NHL player, but the Blue Jackets feel he will improve their depth. He figures to slot in on the fourth line, or as one of the Blue Jackets' extra forwards.
    • Kings Sign Cracknell

News: Adam Cracknell signed a one-year contract with the Kings on Tuesday.
Analysis: Adam Cracknell only suited up for 19 games with the Blues last season, and picked up just two assists. He'll likely be a fringe player with the Kings as well, so don't expect to see him in the lineup most nights.
