Sabres' Bob Sanguinetti: Clears waivers Thursday

Sanguinetti cleared waivers and was assigned to AHL Rochester on Thursday, ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun reports. Sanguinetti was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 6 with an undisclosed injury, and was always expected to be sent down to AHL Rochester once healthy. Thursday's move would seem to indicate that the 27-year-old defender is in fact now healthy. Sanguinetti registered an impressive 40 points (16 goals, 24 assists) in 61 games with AHL Utica in 2014-15, and could get another shot with the big club at some point this season.

  • Placed on IR Tuesday

News: Bobby Sanguinetti (undisclosed) was placed on IR Tuesday, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: It isn't clear what kind of ailment Bobby Sanguinetti is dealing with, or when he suffered the injury, but the Sabres are now incredibly thin at defense with Zach Bogosian, Brendan Guhle, and Sanguinetti all landing on IR Tuesday. Sanguinetti, who has not skated with the team at all during camp, will be eligible to make his regular-season debut Oct. 15 against the Panthers, but he'll likely be assigned to AHL Rochester once healthy.
  • Sabres Ink Sanguinetti To One-Year Deal

News: Bobby Sanguinetti signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sabres on Thursday.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti is coming off a career-best season at the AHL level, as he scored 16 goals and registered 40 points in 61 games with the Canucks' affiliate in Utica. It's likely that he'll suit up for AHL Rochester to open 2015-16, but he might be one of the Sabres' first choices for a call-up if injuries thin the team's blue-line depth.
  • Canucks Reassign Sanguinetti

News: Bobby Sanguinetti was reassigned to AHL Utica after Thursday's loss to the Sabres, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti, who was recalled by the Canucks on Feb. 19, was a healthy scratch for the entirety of his four-game stint with the parent club.
  • Canucks Recall Sanguinetti From AHL Utica

News: Bobby Sanguinetti was recalled from AHL Utica on Thursday.
Analysis: With Chris Tanev (undisclosed) out for the Canucks' five-game road trip, Bobby Sanguinetti's call-up will provide the team with an extra option on the blue line. The 26-year-old, who received a promotion to the Canucks earlier this season but didn't play, has compiled 28 points in 42 games with Utica.
  • Canucks Reassign Sanguinetti

News: Bobby Sanguinetti was reassigned to AHL Utica on Wednesday.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti will be swapped out with Frank Corrado, who was recalled from Utica in a corresponding move. The 26-year-old never made a single appearance during his time with the Canucks, serving exclusively as the team's seventh defenseman.
  • Canucks Recall Sanguinetti

News: Bobby Sanguinetti was recalled from AHL Utica on Saturday.
Analysis: The Canucks aren't believed to be dealing with any injuries among the six defensemen on the active roster, but with the team away from Vancouver the next two games, it seems likely Bobby Sanguinetti was added just as insurance. He'll probably be reassigned to the minors following Tuesday's tilt with the Sharks.
  • Canucks Reassign Sanguinetti To Utica

News: Bobby Sanguinetti was reassigned to AHL Utica on Saturday.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti was only on hand with the Canucks for Friday's game as insurance in the event Kevin Bieksa (illness) was unable to play. Bieksa ended up suiting up and looks to be fine moving forward, prompting the Canucks decision to send Sanguinetti back to the minors.
  • Canucks Recall Sanguinetti

News: Bobby Sanguinetti was recalled from AHL Utica on Thursday.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti is likely just joining the Canucks as a contingency plan in the event neither Kevin Bieksa (illness) nor Luca Sbisa (undisclosed) are unable to play Friday against the Coyotes. It seems highly likely that at least Bieksa will be able to suit up, which would relegate Sanguinetti to healthy scratch status. The 26-year-old last appeared in the NHL during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season with the Hurricanes.
  • Canucks Sign Sanguinetti

News: The Canucks have signed Bobby Sanguinetti, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti, who spent last season in the KHL, has recorded six points in 45 career NHL contests to date. He slots in as a depth blueliner for the Canucks.
