Avalanche's Nate Guenin: Waived by Colorado

Guenin was placed on waivers by the Avalanche on Wednesday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports. Guenin will look to restart his 2015-16 campaign elsewhere, failing to record a single point in 29 outings. Given his lack of offensive production, it is possible the 33-year-old will clear waivers, likely reporting to AHL San Antonio.

Avalanche's Nate Guenin: Will return to lineup Thursday

Guenin (head) will return to the lineup Thursday against the Blackhawks, Marc Moser of Altitude TV reports. Guenin hasn't played since Dec. 21 because of the head injury, but it's quite possible he's served as a healthy scratch of late. He was a late addition to Thursday's lineup due to Tyson Barrie being scratched with an illness, so it appears whatever ailed him is now behind him.

Avalanche's Nate Guenin: Dealing with possible concussion

Guenin is dealing with a possible concussion and has been ruled out for at least one week. Guenin suffered the head injury during Monday's outing against the Maple Leafs. Colorado's next game isn't until Sunday against the Coyotes, so it's possible he won't actually miss any game time.

Avalanche's Nate Guenin: Exits with head injury

Guenin will not return to Monday's game against the Maple Leafs with a head injury. The extent of Guenin's injury remains unclear after seeing just 6:40 of ice time Monday. His next opportunity to return will be Sunday against the Coyotes.

  • Avs' Guenin Records Assist In Loss

News: Nate Guenin tallied an assist in 4-1 loss to Edmonton on Monday.
Analysis: Nate Guenin dished out a helper, recorded a shot and skated to minus-1 rating Monday in a 4-1 loss to Edmonton. The assist gives the defenseman his first point in the last seven games, and he's accumulated a total of 15 points in 70 games this season.
  • Avs' Guenin An Unlikely Source Of Offense Friday

News: Nate Guenin scored his second goal of the year and chipped in two assists in a 5-4 shootout win over the Stars on Friday.
Analysis: An unlikely source of offense, the trio of points gives the stay-at-home defenseman a total of just 12 on the season. Nate Guenin (25 points in 125 career games) doesn't figure to have too many more nights like these, so we'll chalk this up as an anomaly for the 32-year-old.
  • Avs' Guenin Records Assist In Loss

News: Nate Guenin recorded an assist in Sunday's loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Offense has been hard to come by throughout Nate Guenin's career, and that's true against this season, despite the 32-year-old being on track to supply his best points total. He's only managed a goal and seven assists over 48 games, which doesn't provide much utility in the fantasy realm.
  • Avs' Guenin Nets First Goal

News: Nate Guenin notched his first goal of the season in Wednesday's overtime win over the Flyers.
Analysis: With just 17 points in 131 career games, Nate Guenin is a non-entity in just about any fantasy format. He's shown an ability to pick up hits and blocked shots at a decent rate, but even that production isn't significant to compensate for his utter lack of offense.
  • Avs' Guenin Rejoins Lineup

News: Nate Guenin will rejoin the Avs' lineup Thursday against the Islanders, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Zach Redmond has emerged as coach Patrick Roy's preferred replacement option for Ryan Wilson (shoulder) on the third pairing, but Nate Guenin will now receive the opportunity to make an impression of his own. Guenin hasn't played since Oct. 18 and hasn't provided a point in his four games this season.
  • Avs' Guenin To Sit Saturday

News: Nate Guenin will be out of the lineup Saturday against the Wild.
Analysis: After the Avs allowed the Wild to rack up a franchise-record 48 shots on goal in Thursday's opener, coach Patrick Roy decided to shake up his defense a bit in the rematch. While Thursday's dismal effort wasn't entirely Nate Guenin's fault, he was fairly invisible in the game, finishing with no hits, no shots on goal and one blocked shot in his 14:49 of ice time. Ryan Wilson will take Guenin's spot in the lineup, in what is more than likely just a one-time arrangement.
