Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Making gradual progress

Pavelec (knee) has been making progress in his recovery, but has still not been cleared for game action, reports Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun. Considering the Czech netminder has been out since late November, he'll likely require an AHL stint before getting back out there for the Jets, but it sounds like he might be back within the next couple weeks. When that day comes, he may well find that he doesn't have a starting role waiting for him, as rookie Connor Hellebuyck has been a strong presence in goal for the Jets in Pavelec's absence.

    Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Skates Wednesday

Pavelec (knee) skated during Wednesday's practice, but didn't take any shots, Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press reports. This is Pavelec's first time on the ice since spraining his knee Nov. 21, so it looks as though he could return before the end of the month. There's no indication as to where Pavelec will fit in once he is healthy though, with Connor Hellebuyck establishing himself as the Jets' starter in Pavelec's absence. Winnipeg could decide to carry three goalies, but more information should emerge as Pavelec's gets closer to returning.

Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Likely out over a month

Pavelec is expected to be out until January or February due to a knee sprain, Sara Orlesky of TSN reports. Pavelec's injury is a bit of a blow at the back end for the Jets. He and Michael Hutchinson have have had similar seasons to date, resulting in a fairly even split between the two in goal. However, the injury to Pavelec will likely force Hutchinson into a much more prominent role in net, with the newly-recalled Connor Hellebuyck receiving the occasional starting nod. As of now, Pavelec's return is slated for some point in either January or February, but it should begin to clear up as he progresses more in his recovery.

Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Goes on IR

Pavelec (lower body) was placed on injured reserve by the Jets on Monday, Patrick Williams of NHL.com reports. Pavelec was seen sporting crutches following Saturday's game against the Coyotes, indicating his injury could be more than a short-term issue. The Jets called up a netminder (Connor Hellebuyck) Sunday, and another one (Joel Armia) Monday in a corresponding move, giving the club three options in net. Michael Hutchinson will likely receive the biggest workload in net during Pavelec's absence, with the potential for one of the two newly-recalled goalies sprinkling in a time or two depending on how long Paavelec misses.

Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Seen leaving arena in cast after collision

Updating an earlier report, Pavelec, who was injured in Saturday's game in a collision with the Coyotes' Shane Doan, was seen leaving the arena with his lower leg in a cast, reports the CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. Hopefully this is just a precaution, but a cast is never a good sign. He did finish out the period after the collision. But if true, we're pretty sure Monday's game will be out.

Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Leaves game with lower-body injury

Pavlec left Saturday night's game against the Coyotes with a lower-body injury and will not return. The Jets will next play Monday at home against Colorado, so there should be an update in the next 24 hours.

Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Suffers lower-body injury

Pavelec left Saturday's game with a lower-body injury and will not return, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports. Michael Hutchinson came into the game after Pavelec left with the injury, which was presumably the result of a collision with Arizona's Shane Doan in the second period. Consider Pavelec questionable for Monday's game against the Avalanche until more information becomes available.

Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Will start in net Saturday

Pavelec will start in goal Saturday night against the visiting Coyotes, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports. Aside from a home win against the Canucks this past Wednesday, Pavelec has been wobbly between the pipes based on a 3.07 GAA and .892 save percentage in November. If you must start Pavelec in fantasy pools, proceed with caution as the Jets are not shy about turning to backup Michael Hutchinson, who owns a 2.82 GAA and .913 save percentage through nine games.

Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Starting Wednesday against Vancouver

As expected, Pavelec will be between the pipes in Wednesday's game against the Canucks. Pavelec has been terrible of late, posting an 0-2-0 record with a 5.27 GAA and .831 save percentage in his last three appearances. He will look to get back on track Wednesday against a Vancouver team that has lost six of its last seven games.

Jets' Ondrej Pavelec: Likely in net Wednesday

Pavelec is expected to be in net Wednesday against the Blackhawks, Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reports. Pavelec has really struggled in net this season, allowing four goals in each of his last three starts to move his GAA to 2.96 and save percentage to .901 on the season. He'll likely take his place between the pipes again Wednesday after a day off Monday, facing a Canucks team that could be a little shorthanded if Radim Vrbata ends up missing the contest.
