Ducks' Mike Santorelli: Nets Game Winner Friday

Santorelli scored the game-winning goal against the Sharks on Friday. It was the lone goal of the game, as Santorelli beat San Jose netminder Martin Jones up high with a wicked wrist shot early in the third period. Santorelli has scored four goals in 25 games this year, but considering he's playing on the fourth line and seeing no power-play time, it's easy to see why hes stuck on five points. The 29-year-old is a former 20-goal-scorer, but when he's seeing just 6:45 of ice time -- as he did Friday -- don't expect much in terms of production.

Ducks' Mike Santorelli: Finishes November with one point

Santorelli did not have a November to remember, as he finished the month with one goal and no assists. Considering Santorelli's season totals of three goals and one assist, it seems remarkable that he actually led his team in goals for a time. He hasn't registered an assist since Anaheim's second game of the season, and only has one goal in his last 15 games. His somewhat promising start appears to have been a mirage, and if for some reason you're still holding out hope for Mike Santorelli's fantasy relevance this season, it's definitely time to cut ties.

Ducks' Mike Santorelli: Nets first goal as a Duck

Santorelli scored his first of the season in Anaheim's 4-1 win over Minnesota on Sunday. The goal comes on the heels of being a healthy scratch in Friday's loss to the Avs. Santorelli skated on Anaheim's fourth line alongside Patrick Maroon and Shawn Horcoff on Sunday, a line that packs a little bit of everything from grit to speed and skill. While the third period tally was a nice thing for the line, don't expect the scoring to continue with much reliability in the coming weeks.

  • Santorelli Inks One-Year Deal With Ducks

News: Mike Santorelli signed a one-year, $875,000 contract with the Ducks on Monday.
Analysis: Mike Santorelli will likely slot into a bottom-six role with the Ducks, providing the team with some depth up front. He was a solid producer for Nashville and Toronto last season, registering 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) in 79 games between the two teams.
  • Preds' Santorelli Looks To Be Healthy Scratch

News: Mike Santorelli isn't skating on a regular line during warmups and looks to be a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Avalanche, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Mike Santorelli has skated the last two days and appears to be healthy after missing the Preds' previous game with an illness, but the brief absence might have been enough to cost him his lineup spot. He's only produced three points and a minus-5 rating over his 20 games with the Predators since coming over in a Feb. 15 trade.
  • Preds' Santorelli Back Skating Again

News: Mike Santorelli (illness) practiced Monday and participated in Tuesday's morning skate.
Analysis: Mike Santorelli was made a scratch last Saturday against the Stars due to the illness, but his presence at practice the last two days suggests he's probably fully recovered at this point. He was playing a third-line role for the Predators prior to exiting the lineup, so expect him to slot back in at that spot Tuesday against the Avalanche.
  • Santorelli Out Sick For Preds

News: Mike Santorelli will miss Saturday's game against the Stars after coming down with an illness.
Analysis: Mike Santorelli has a modest 29 points this season so he might not be heavily used amid a busy Saturday NHL slate. However, the Predators are in a dogfight for playoff positioning so every last depth player helps. Victor Bartley will move from defense to forward to fill the gap for a night.
  • Preds' Santorelli Pots Goal In Win Over Bolts

News: Mike Santorelli scored the game-winning goal in Thursday's win over Tampa Bay, his first point in 11 games.
Analysis: It was also his first goal since being re-acquired from the Maple Leafs back in February. Mike Santorelli skates mainly on the Preds' third line, so his opportunities to add offense will continue to be limited.
  • Preds' Santorelli Struggling In New Role

News: Mike Santorelli was held off the scoresheet for the fifth straight game during Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: Mike Santorelli has not made much of an impact offensively since joining the Preds via trade back in mid-February, however as a bottom-six forward, scoring is not really what he was brought in to do. What he is seeing, however, is regular ice time, something he was not getting during his final weeks in Toronto. Since his arrival in Nashville, he has been averaging 12-13 minutes per game playing on the third line alongside Colin Wilson and Calle Jarnkrok. He is a useful piece of the puzzle as far as the Preds are concerned, but he is unlikely to make much of a fantasy impact down the stretch and into the playoffs.
  • Santorelli Meets Up With Predators

News: Mike Santorelli (immigration issues) reported to the Predators for Friday's practice.
Analysis: Mike Santorelli slotted in on the third line during the session, joining Matt Cullen and Calle Jarnkrok. Coach Peter Laviolette hasn't confirmed that Santorelli will make his team debut Saturday against the Flyers, but that seems to be a reasonable expectation given his involvement in practice.
