News: Montreal announced Monday that Fortier will start the season for the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs.
Analysis: Fortier will provide some gritty forechecking to the checking line this season for the Habs. Unfortunately for Fortier he will need an injury or a trade in front of him to break into the NHL this season for the Canadiens
    • Fortier signs a three-year deal

News: Montreal prospect Olivier Fortier signed a three-year contract with the Canadiens on Thursday. Fortier, the captain of the Rimouski Oceanic and top defensive forward of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season, was selected 65th overall by Montreal in the 2007 draft.
Analysis: The center has eight goals and 27 assists in 35 games this season. He returned Feb. 11 after missing 40 games with a knee injury. He is only worth owning in long-term keeper leagues.
